How does it work?

  • Kit delivery: Receive the collection kit comfortably at home after placing your order online.
  • Activation and self-collection: Complete the medical history and informed consent forms online, and perform the simple fecal collection at home according to the instructions.
  • Send the sample to the laboratory using the prepaid envelope provided. The sample remains stable at room temperature, with no need for cold chain transport.
  • Laboratory analysis: The laboratory performs an immuno-enzymatic/biochemical assay for the precise determination of calprotectin levels and the acidity/alkalinity (pH) level.
  • Report delivery:Receive your digital report via email within 2–3 weeks.

Who is it for?

The analysis is recommended in the following clinically relevant contexts:

  • Presence of chronic or recurrent gastrointestinal symptoms (abdominal pain and cramps, bowel habit changes, bloating, chronic diarrhea).
  • Suspicion of mucosal inflammation or the need for further investigation for differential diagnosis between IBS and IBD.
  • Periodic monitoring of intestinal inflammatory levels.
  • Integration and analytical completion for those who have already undergone or intend to undergo a gut microbiome study.

Instructions for use

  • Targeted inflammation assessment: Allows for the non-invasive detection or exclusion of an inflammatory state in the intestinal mucosa.
  • Differential diagnosis: A useful aid in guiding the diagnosis between organic/inflammatory conditions (IBD) and functional disorders (such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome - IBS).
  • Planning and monitoring: Provides a reproducible quantitative parameter to evaluate progress over time or response to nutritional interventions.
  • Simplicity and stability: The Danastool system ensures perfect stability of analytical parameters at room temperature during transport.

Disclaimer

  • Medical non-replaceability: The provided report is for informational and analytical purposes only, intended as cognitive support. The test does not in itself constitute a formal clinical diagnosis, does not replace a medical consultation, and does not provide pharmacological or therapeutic prescriptions.
  • Clinical assessment: The interpretation of the results must be evaluated by the attending physician or a gastroenterologist in the context of the patient's overall medical history.
  • Temporary contraindications and interferences: The intake of certain medications (particularly NSAIDs or anti-inflammatory drugs in the days prior) may alter fecal calprotectin levels. It is recommended to report any ongoing pharmacological therapies in the online medical history.
